Hi – has anyone flown Heathrow- Inverness and returned immediately on the same plane fifty minutes later? Is it achievable?

Someone will answer you but also, Flyertalk has a section on back to back flights where people contribute for locations if you can do this or what else it takes

Yes it’s possible HBO only though – I’ve done it a couple of time – but you have to hustle your bustle.

Straight off the plane, via the baggage claim area then into the terminal then clear security.

I think it’s even easier now there is a priority security lane which there wasn’t when I did it.

I’ve even had time for a coffee and a short bread finger in the small lounge!

Yes it’s an easy one. Only thing I’d add is avoid the last flight of the day. They can close security on the basis that everyone is through. The airport terminal is a large shed, that’s a bit unfair but gives you the idea.

I fly to Inverness a lot (once or twice a month), and have done B2B there, though the last time was pre-covid. The airport is small, and you will be at security 2-3 mins after disembarking. There is occasionally a bit of a queue for security, but I don’t think I’ve ever waited more than 5 mins. There is a fast track which simply propels you to the front – there’s no separate scanner and lane. The staff at the airport are amongst the friendliest I’ve ever encountered, including the security staff.

If you are B2B with BA, other than the last flight of the day (which overnights at the airport and your B2B is then early the following morning), the flights are too early in the day to worry about security being closed (which can happen to give the staff a break).

My main risk with B2B at Inverness wouldn’t be airport related, but with BA cancelling the flight, of which I’ve had more than my fare share.

I fly regularly to Inverness and as others have said B2B should be fine. It might be worth telling the crew what you’re doing, It’s one of the few airports that is usually hot on boarding by Group.

As @Wayland says, the last flight of the day always overnights there as does the EasyJet flight from/to LGW.

Last month the airport was really busy and the fast track wasn’t working so it took longer than usual to get through barrier and security. If you have time to go into the tiny lounge, the soup is usually quite good.
