I have just spoken to one App Chat representative and one phone representative and both have told me that in order to change to the platinum card I must apply for a new card and have sent me a link to the platinum page.
I was very sure that you could upgrade to the platinum card, so have I just managed to speak to 2 misinformed agents, or has something changed very recently that this is no longer possible.
I do not want to apply for a new card at this time but I do want to upgrade to the platinum card.
I see that the link to upgrade is still live on the website.

As far as I have always understood you can upgrade an Amex of the same family, for example BA blue to BAPP, green to gold to platinum Membership Rewards cards, but there are are cards that sits outside those families and cannot be upgraded (nectar, blue basic Chargecard, Marriott).
