Forums Hotel loyalty schemes Hilton Honors Is there a smart way to use a US$ Paypal balance to buy HH points?

Topic says it all I guess. I’ve received a US$ payment into my US paypal account and also have a desire to buy some Hilton points. Is there a smart way of doing that to avoid unnecessary fees/charges? My Hilton account is UK domiciled. \

    Thanks!

It should be straightforward to change your Hilton profile to a US address

Thanks, but is that likely to scupper my 100% bonus offer, though?

Like many hotel chains and airlines Hilton uses points.com for points purchases so the question is really does points.com take PayPal?

I don’t have a HH account so can’t go through the buy points process to check but you can!

Failing that does Hilton take PayPal when booking rooms direct with them? What about git cards?

I want to bolster my HH points balance in anticipation of Silverstone going up for grabs again this year, so I need to keep it as points rater than a gift card. If that doesn’t happen I’ll then use it for a hotel stay.

That’s all very well but until you try you’ll never know!

Is it possible to transfer the money to Revolut, or similar? I don’t think I’ve ever seen PayPal as an option for buying points.

Yeah having looked on the UK site I see it’s Google Pay or credit card only. So whilst I could presumably buy some kind of preloaded card, this is all starting to look like a very convoluted way to try and save a few quid.

I meant buy a pre-loaded visa debit type card with my paypal balance, then use that to buy points via the HH site once I had changed my address to the US. But too much hassle I think!

Sounds like you are just worried about the buying points bonus disappearing if you change your address to a US one.

Unfortunately my Hilton account already has a “US address” so I can’t help with the specific question. But I really doubt that would happen. American accounts get the bonus all the time too. Maybe hedge your bets and buy some now then change address and see how it goes

According to other groups, people just change their address to a US one, buy the points, then change it back
