Just booked LHR-PMI return for July 2024 for two adults and a child (4-yr old).
I chose the least avios option which was 19,500 avios + £345 tax.
As a comparison, the cash fare for the Monday 9.50am outbound and Friday 5.30pm inbound in July comes to £2,137.94. This is higher than other alternatives as it would allow ones to maximise time of their holiday. I wanted this flight too for the same reason.
So does this mean I got: (2,137.94 – 345) / (19,500) = 9.19p out of this redemption?
It’s too good to be true so just running it by.
Thank you.
If you wanted this destination and these flights then it’s a great deal.
You got 9.2p if you would genuinely have paid £2138 if there was no avios availability.
Otherwise you got what you would have actually paid, or the value of the next best alternative.
The other way of thinking about it is (at 1p per avios) you paid £540 for the ideal set of flights at peak season.
