Forums Payment cards Other payment cards Jam Doughnut cashback site

Not a card per se but a cashback site. Anyone got any experience? Seems better in some respects than TopCashback, Quidco etc. Instant cashback.

I was surprised I’d never heard of. Just signed up and tested. Works very easily. Good for day-to-day (Tesco/Sainsburys/Aldi/Waitrose for example). No hotels/airlines sadly. Has Eurostar and various hotel giftcards (that I’ve no experience of).

Referral code if anyone is so kind GASU

I used it…it ‘seems’ like a good idea… But you have to remember to activate the offer before going in-store… And I just couldn’t remember this. So I just deleted it.

I’m a TCB/Quid++/Avios collector but just couldn’t do it. YMMV

Not if you simply use to buy eg Sainsburys gift card and add it to your Sainsbury’s account?

    Curiosity piqued.

Statutory accounts reviewed and it is even profitable,

I guess its closest comparator would be Topgiftcard.

    Rates appear better though.

A few quid saved for not much effort. I might give it a spin on the weekly Waitrose shop.

Every 3% or 4% counts !! Just a shame no true travel partners currently listed…

I couldnt see a discount for Aldi, other than the 300 points for your first purchase.

For some other retailers I checked there are better discounts available through reward gateway (employee discount portal) if you have access.

Ive used it when it’s beaten my work gateway discount. It’s not been many times though. You have to get to £10 to cash out. If it helps my referral is 5M9J. I use work gateway – topgiftcards – jamdoughnut-hyperjar.

You start with £3 for nothing so it’s £7 for first cash out. With a weekly shop going through and cashback of 4%+ available for that (much higher elsewhere) that’s not a tough ask.

Another benefit seems to be that you can buy ‘discounted’ gift cards via Amex using Apple Pay (whereas my work portal only allows Mastercard and Visa)

All seems a touch “meh” really.

Nothing to differentiate it from PAW, EdenRed, VivUp, and loss of opportunity from Airtime, and the rebates from LBG, Santander, Barclaycard, Virgin Money and Amex.

This is probably the key benefit vs others. Will give it a go

Have given it a go, and used a referral code here. Can confirm that it accepts amex via Apple Pay. Card code delivered within 30 secs. Card worked fine and spent immediately. This is something that could be done at/near checkout when you know the value you need.
Note there is a reduction in the cashback if you pay by amex or card (3.1% rather than 4.3%).
Great for meeting Amex spend as well as saving a few quid, albeit not quite the headline rate.

Thanks Points worrier, used your referral.
The reduction is for any card, so might as well use it for Amex to meet sign up bonuses. Might switch back to other portals if spending on Amex is not required.
Handy to have vouchers in the app. No more losing them given how thin they are these days.

What is the reward for using a referral code?

    387 posts

It’s not a lot. £8. Really it should go to first poster !!

    131 posts

£8 for referrer? Does the new user get anything?

    387 posts

£3. And the idea. So the ability to get x% off without really doing anything.

It’s not going to turn anyone into a millionaire. But it’s all incremental. Look after the pennies…

Is that £3 in addition to the 300 points for the first purchase which I think you can get without using a referral code?

The percentage discount is nice but it’s definitely more effort/admin than instant reloadable e-vouchers via reward gateway. For example, I can top-up (not purchase a new one each time) Sainsbury’s gift card discounted by 5% and use a cashback/reward visa/mastercard credit card to pay for it. No need to accrue cashback to reach the minimum to cash out to bank account and no other fees.

@Toaster, it will work for some, not for others. Clearly it doesn’t work for you.

Whether or not you get 300 points anyway I’ve no idea (I was referred by a friend). But even if you do why wouldn’t you use the referral code anyway?

Please note that the AI they use to read your photo of the receipt is clever enough to see gift cards. Already tried!!

I tend to just use jam doughnut for instore purchases and get the required giftcard whilst I’m in the queue for checkout, it’s really quick thro the app. My referral is NRG8 if any1 wants an extra for signing up

I’m new to Jam Doughnut, but am quite experienced when it comes to these marginal 1-10% gains. Curve, Airtime, TopCashBack, Quidco (on odd occasions it’s good), TopGiftCards, Vouchercodes and code stacking wherever possible (Boots is one of the best for it).

This is the only way to get discount on places like Tesco and Ikea, which alone makes it worthwhile to me.

I have a very good use case for Jam Doughnut that many may not automatically think of. If out for a meal at a Miller & Carter, Ember inns, Harvester, Toby Carvery, Nandos, Wagamama etc you can take off 10-15% off the bill with Jam Doughnut. Just ask for the bill and when they give you that 5 mins to go through the bill just purchase a gift card for the exact amount and pay with that.

I recently got the below savings:
Miller and Carter: £156.72 meal – Saving £14.10
    Vintage inns: £78.73 – Saving £7.73
Ask Italian (kids party): £143.25 – Savings £7.52

This is almost £30 for three gift cards I wouldn’t have bought. People just automatically pay with their credit cards. You get Amex pts too if you choose Apple Pay, so it’s effectively free money. One waiter even asked me to refer him when he saw what I did, so I doubt many are doing this. Works for drinks too of course…

    Hope this helps anyone.
My referral is PBNR if anyone wants to use it.

Yes, it’s far easier than many think. Obvious opportunity when paying business expenses (either self employed or through reclaiming expenses). More of a moral dilemma when paying bill for meal out with friends which is eventually shared. I guess those friends might be short lived!!

Original referral code in original post on this (just scroll to the top…).

This is crazy, 12.1% off Expedia hotel bookings?

    https://www.jamdoughnut.com/gift-cards/hotel-gift-card-instant-cashback

Definitely going to wipe out any chain benefits, one key? who knows, and c-back probably won’t track, but even so, if you were going to use an OTA anyway that’s a chunky discount.

There is a similar 9% off with another hotel card, but it’s not a brand I know/trust.

    Referral code 1AWU

£ 3 extra for you if you use the code.

I strongly dislike the login method on desktop PC (click a link in email — no option to save/use a password) so reluctantly would recommend the app for convenience. The website also lacks basic functionality like a click-through from the gift card page to the retailer. But it’s a ‘real’ discount so easy to recommend in spite of the clunkiness.
