Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points
Hi all
Sorted a week in Jamaica early March next year with our companion voucher, so now looking for accommodation. Our preference is for nice hotels, not too tacky, with good food. Happy to do all inclusive but not tied to it. (Are there all inclusive resorts which are not tacky and with good food? Ikos Jamaica??)
So far Geejam looks nice, as do some of the resorts around Ocho Rios or over in Negril.
We could hire a car and split the week with chance to explore a bit.
Any advice appreciated!
We really liked the Ocean Cliff hotel in Negril. Its not on 7 mile beach like lots of the big resorts, but has direct sea access from the cliff. The staff were great. The rooms are lovely and it has a really lovely feel to it. I don’t really like huge corporate resorts though so it depends what you are after.
Driving in Jamaica is quite an experience. Lots of the roads are terrible and this is matched by the recklessness of some of the drivers. Still worth getting a car because then you don’t have to rely on a taxi with no seat belts in the back! But worth being prepared for some hair raising road experiences.
We stayed at Jamaica Inn and absolutely loved it. It has its own beach so very private, the food is delicious and although not all inclusive we ate there a lot as it was so good. It’s not a chain hotel but privately owned and the staff have been there for years and are so friendly and helpful.
