@kelliea1 – what can be helpful is to check SeatSpy each day and see how availability is faring. If seats aren’t being snapped up daily, it’s very likely that you’ll find something, especially if you have flexibility to travel a couple of days either side. You can double check on ba.com if you have the time and inclination.

Thank you for your advice. I’m lowly blue so will check the best number. Thank you

    Hi,
I’m very confused now! I just called what I thought was the US number for Blue 1 800 452 1201 to check it was correct for when I need to make the 12.45pm call. The call was answered and I was told that they do not make booking for UK customers. When I asked where I was calling they said UK?
Sorry for this but what am I doing wrong?

What did they sound like? I’ve never had anyone from a UK-based office sound American. This does chime with the response some people have been getting from the US office though. With the conflicting reports here recently I think I’d be calling Australia or Japan.

He was European but were adamant I had called the UK? Maybe as the UK office was still open the call went to the UK? He said his colleagues would not be able to help me either?

It makes no sense at all, unless agents everywhere are being told not to make bookings for UK-based customers calling the US number! Why don’t you try HUACA, to see if you get a different response?

@kelliea1, what are your travel dates, have you booked the outbound already? You mentioned the 2nd week in August for returning, which obviously isn’t being released yet.

Yes I have the outbound booked and am looking for the inbound in the next 6 days or so (can be a bit flexible). Availability was good but not so good last couple of days, thank you

NorthernLass, if I was to grab PE flights from another country home would I still have to call up for these or I could do it online? Thank you

Online is fine as long as you have enough avios. SeatSpy is showing plenty of PE from KUL though (as long as you only need 2 seats), would that not be better? I’d just assumed you wanted CW.

I did want CW from SIN, KUL or HKG if possible rather than PE. Will have to keep checking daily if no luck with US office.

Despite the UK number being out of hours at that time, I’m pretty sure the US number is handled by UK-based staff, so fairly certain you have the right number.

If they give you any grief about not serving UK customers, I’d either try HUACA or perhaps offer some connection to the USA to justify the call (e.g., you’re on holiday in the USA, you’re a dual citizen, etc.).

Unless the policy or practice actually changed in the last few days, I definitely did what you’re trying to do two weeks ago.

Even if the 1am calls to overseas BA call centres don’t work, these seats aren’t always taken at release (e.g., I got TYO for 3 of us this year only calling UK number at 9am), so maybe don’t resign yourself to PE too quickly. Given that you’re flexible with airport too, I definitely think there’s a good chance you’ll be able to get one of those routes in CW.

    This.
Always handled by Brits when I’ve called

Thank you for your advice, I’ll keep my options open.
