Forums Frequent flyer programs Other frequent flyer schemes KLM Multi city vs 2 x one ways

Hi, I need to book some KLM flights. If I try to book multi city, it defaults to economy ” Light” fares with the option to purchase checked bags.
If I do that and purchase a checked bag, do people with status still get an additional free checked bag? Is there any difference between buying the light fare and just paying for a checked bag vs 2 x one way economy standard flights

If I book as 2 one way economy standard flights, it’s quite a lot more expensive than the multi-city plus bags options.

    Thanks

    Vicky

@VickyTM what status do you have? Follow the SkyTeam status for what you receive when booking.

I’m not sure which site you’re searching on but klm.uk gives a drop down option to search for economy/ premium / business when using the multi city search option.
If you select economy then you can choose from lite / standard etc by scrolling the price points.
As suggested, your status will include extra on top of your paid flight selection.
You answered yourself, two one way tickets are more expensive than a single multi city ticket

@VickyTM Hi our son recently travelled on KLM on handbag only fare and he is Virgin Silver. While going through the booking there was no indication he would get the Silver benefits but the confirmation email gave the extra baggage as well as business class boarding. KLM IT is as bad as BA IT!

ST Elite & Elite Plus have extra baggage allowance on AFKL, you’ll see that in the confirmation & in the app instantly. I’ve seen quite some random blurbs on this site but “ KLM IT is as bad as BA IT!” must be the dumbest thing I’ve read yet. KLM even has it’s own IT subsidiary, Cygnific. The stuff these people can do… Even on Delta metal bookings that have nothing to do with them.
