Anyone able to check award availability for 2 business seats SIN – SAI on the 14th March please?
I don’t have an account (yet), so it won’t let me check. Tried using United’s site, but wasn’t sure if they have access to the same inventory. (FWIW, it only shows economy as being available).
Thanks!
Assuming you mean Ho Chi Minh ? The code is SGN 🙂
The morning flight has advantage for 40000 miles available.
The afternoon / evening flights are waitlist. Anything on 737 very unlikely to clear
Think SAI = Siem Reap? 🙂
In any case, Business is only available as Waitlist for both SQ164 and SQ166 with a price of 40,000 miles.
Same comment regarding 737 and clearing waitlist as SamG made.Damm my encyclopedic airport code knowledge is getting out of date 😆
If it’s the max then it’s not bad down the back, they’ve added screens and wifi and you’ll get a meal
Great, thank you both – appreciate it.
It was Siem Reap, but agree that it looks like it should be the artist formerly known as Saigon!
Was pleasantly surprised to discover there is a direct flight from SIN on SQ, but sounds like sitting up the back it is – was only going to go upfront if there were saver seats available (for 24k, I think).
Glad to hear economy isn’t too bad – we’re starting in J on QR, but seem to gradually be working our way down class-wise: Vietjet is the next leg to take us to HAN after SAI.
SAI confused everyone last year. We found it very difficult to book a flight as we were travelling the day after the new airport opened and the old airport code was still being used. The only airline that would let us book was SIA. On day of travel, after waiting a couple of hours to board the plane which had technical issues – a 737 max jet! – we became quite concerned just before take off when the screen on the back of the seat in front of us said “Time at Sin 0245pm Thu, Est arrival 0836 am Thu”. When we tried to make bookings previously all the flight times were also coming up with about 7 hours!
We were down the back. Flight was half full. It seemed much more spacious than the Qantas 737 Max we flew across the Tasman a few weeks later. You will get a snack on board. And we did end up in Siem Reap!
We also used Vietjet from SGN to MEL down the back. As we had to pay for luggage, we had food and seat choice included. It meant we could choose the two seats together down the back which were quite spacious. Most seemed to be travelling hbo. It seemed the seats down the back were reserved for those with full package as CC came along with their list and ask us about food/drink choices along with a few others. We received an email from Vietjet a few days before flight saying our flight “might be cancelled”. We were unable to check with the airline but could see they were still selling tickets so kept our fingers crossed. All worked out well in the end.
SQ is probably the only airline with whom I’ll fly on a 737.

We thought about it very carefully and decided only Singapore Airlines and Qantas. We had issues checking in as they needed to confirm we were allowed visa on arrival, which seemed to take back office forever to make a decision – one of us with EU passport the other with UK. Then with the technical issues we did consider that may be we shouldn’t take the flight! However we did and are here to tell the tale!
