Forums Other Destination advice Kuala Lumpur hotel

I’m transiting through for 1 day in KL on my way back from Australia.

Any hotels that stand out or people recommend? Not fussed about points hotels just a nice enough hotel. Looking like it’ll be at four seasons or mandarin oriental at the moment. I’ll be booking through Emyr.

For convenience to the airport, I’d probably book the Hilton KL and take the KLIA Ekspres to/from – much quicker and will leave you more time to explore the city or chill by the pool etc, if that’s what you want to do. But if there’s several of you, or you’re planning to take a taxi into town anyway, then either MO or 4S would be fine, or maybe consider Shangri-La also (personally I’d prefer a club room there than the others, but up to you). The Intercon is nice enough, and good value for the price, but not particularly special, I think. If you want something different / non-chain / boutiquey you could look at Villa Samadhi perhaps. There’s a new Indigo that may have opened by now, not sure, and a Waldorf Astoria on the way but I don’t think that’s due to open until next year. If more space and a washing machine would be useful to you, there are some good serviced apartments around, e.g. Fraser Residence, Lanson Place.

Agree with Jon on Kl central station hotels for airport convenience (Hilton/st regis etc). But if u did want to stay in town, I would also consider the Ruma hotels (emyr can get u and companion a complimentary 50 minute massage at their spa).

FS has bar trigona (voted one of the best bars in asia) and a decent Chinese restaurant (halal) so I would use any hotel credits there (if allowed)

If it’s only one day, I’d stick to the train. If taking taxi, you can get stuck in car for a long time in city centre.

Oh yes, good call – nice place, and they have a very nice gin bar downstairs 😉

I’m doing the same route with kids, so opted for the Sama Sama Express (airside) so that we don’t need to queue at immigration. I estimate we will be in the hotel for 12 hours so want to maximise rest. We are travelling in Economy

Thanks guys. Will look into those recommendations.

I’ll have about 30ish hours as we’re flying into KL in the morning and out the following afternoon/evening. I’ll head into the city as I’ll also have most the next day too.
