Heathrow will submit third runway proposals to the government this summer, pledging to use UK steel and boost growth, the airport has confirmed.
But terminal expansion / development will come first and then a 3rd Runway.
But airlines aren’t happy
Meanwhile, airlines are stepping up calls for the CAA to clamp down on charges to fly from Heathrow.

Meanwhile, airlines are stepping up calls for the CAA to clamp down on charges to fly from Heathrow.
Airlines are actually asking for a wholesale change to the regulatory system as the current one clearly doesn’t work for the airlines, the airport, the regulator or passengers. There was a marvellously self serving article in The Times a few days ago by Messrs Gallego, Weiss etc. railing against the higher costs of Heathrow vs other European airports while of course ignoring that the ‘user pays’ model, a matter of public policy in the UK, means that the extra costs stem come from adding in external costs not suffered by those other airports (as governments pick up the tab or exempt airports from costs), not ones that go into HAL’s pockets. The anticipated change to calculation of business rates will add more to charges…
