I’ve been offered an upgrade for £780 per person to upgrade seat from PE to CW for March. Booked these seats via full Avios reward flight, during peak season, so quite surprised to get the cabin upgrade offer. Is it worth doing for two passengers. Thanks
That’s a lot of money, I personally wouldn’t spend that much. I might be persuaded to pay up to about £500. But it’s a personal decision, it depends what it’s worth to you, and whether or not you already have status for lounge access etc.
The flights are super long these days – if you can afford it I would recommend doing it. Bear in mind it’s likely to be the old herringbone seats, though.
Last time I had one of these on an Avios flight I got an error when I actually tried to accept it
This sort of question is impossible to answer. If you have £1560 spare that you won’t miss then do it – it will make your flight much more pleasant. If that’s the difference between eating in Japan or not then don’t do it.
Seems a bit steep to me for a one-way upgrade, but you probably won’t get a better offer.
At 1p it’s 78000 avios, isn’t that more than the difference between booking PE and CW outright?
You won’t earn extra avios except on the credit card transaction

Aren’t they supposed to be the refreshed 777’s in March serving the LHR to HND route?

777 starting in September 2023
The seating plan for my flight in Feb has already been updated for the Club Suite 1-2-1 config. Only on the outbound though.
Due to the length of the flight I would accept. But always easy to spend someone else’s money.
Is it normal to get upgrade offers on reward flights? The option is never available on the BA website for me and I have never received an email.

sorry got that wrong. I can see the 777 starting around mid November 2023.
Only one plane a day, the other one is a 787.
Return from HND will be the same obviously 🙂

It’s never actually worked for me in the past – assumed they may have improved/fixed this given the OP’s message.
