If a person was to hold the AMEX Platinum card for 7+ years and the AMEX Marriott Bonvoy card for 27 years would you get lifetime gold without ever stepping in a Marriott hotel?
Likewise Platinum for 5+ and Bonvoy for 17 years for lifetime Silver?
Amex Platinum gifts you Gold status but no nights.
Oh…I see what you’re getting at. Why on earth would anyone hold the Bonvoy card at a fee per year but never stay at Marriott properties?
This was worst case scenario. Adding in even a few stays a year would change the maths but I was just wondering could it be done.
Imagine banking on this and AMEX / Bonvoy changing the rules in 25 years time 😂
Yes, it can be done …. is the answer.
I’m on 410 nights so should hit 600 for Lifetime Plat within 5 years with help from the credit card nights.
Amex bonvoy gives you gold status if you spend more than £15,000 a year on the credit card; so I don’t think any need for the Amex platinum card as well in your example.
