Looking to spend a couple of nights in Lisbon on our way to the Algarve next summer (flying to Porto then using the train)

    Any good hotel advice?

I was looking to use IHG but nothing jumps out at me?

PS – Was delighted to get reward nights booked in Porto at IHG Vignette Collection.

There’s plenty of good places along Avenida Liberdade. The Intercontinental is just north of it and is by accounts a good IC. A Sofitel on the Avenida itself. And then mostly smaller chains or very good independent 4/5 star hotels – many of which crop up on Amex FHR/THC or Virtuouso. Both the Tivoli, Avani and NH Collection are on that street and will net you NH Discovery Dollars if booked direct.

Avenida Palace is the “grand old dame”.
As BWS suggests above, chains are not necessarily the way to go.
If you’re planning on doing daytrips, I’d stay near the station. That
also allows you to walk to Chiado/the bars in the evening!

    Thanks for the advice!

As Michael C suggests, staying near to stations is a good idea. We like to stay near Cais do Sodre as it has a Metro station and a mainline station that heads out west in the direction of Belem, Estoril and Cascais.
