hi all, just wondering if anybody has stayed at both hotels in Liverpool. Usually I’d expect Blu to be more upscale than Red but in Liverpool it seems it’s consistently cheaper than Red.
Red seems to have been refurbished recently while reviews of Blu mention the hotel being ‘tired’ and ‘in need of a refurb’.
For the dates I’m looking at, Blu is 20% cheaper than Red, I’m trying to figure out which of the two I should pick. I have VIP status so I’d hope I should get a nice upgrade at either property. Are premium rooms at Blu still that bad?
Any insight is much appreciated, thanks!
Isn’t it just for the respective football club supporters to choose the right hotel? Sorry, someone will hopefully be along soon with a more helpful answer.
Have you read through the reviews thread? Certainly Red has been mentioned a few times
Red is relatively new. 2022 I believe.
Blu has been in existence since before 2009 so you’re reliant upon the last refurb.
Furthermore, the locations of each are somewhat differet so take a look at that
Although @JDB makes a dry statement, there is of course the Dixie Dean and the Shankley hotels for that too, the two Radisson properties are just different.
Blu is on the edge of the city centre, easy to get to walking from Moorfields station from the Old Hall Street entrance/exit during its opening times. Rooms are alright and breakfast is decent. More of a business hotel.
Red is at Lime Street Station in the very heart of the city centre and walkable to pretty much anywhere. Rooms are good, breakfast better than average. More of a couples, groups on a city break hotel.
It depends on what you need and if either suit best then book.
I’ve stayed in both recently, the Red is the better of the two. I had an upgrade to a junior suite with a view across to St George’s Hall, the room felt fresh and comfortable. The Blu is OK, I was again given an upgrade to a junior suite and it was just two linked rooms with one swapped out for living room furniture. It feels a bit tired, but not unbearably so.
The red is a better choice in my mind, but I’ve chosen the blu the last couple of times as it was £20 cheaper and it’s closer to work. Breakfast is decent quality in both.
