12% on my BAPP which I saved but didn’t use the 10% offer on last time. Nothing on my platinum which I had previously used multiple times with 10% offer.

And remember this can be used for any train tickets, not just LNER ones (and I find their website really user friendly compared to others). Of course buy train tickets with caution with the continual industrial action disrupting travel.

I can’t quite work out why they’re doing this, but long may it continue! Got 12% on business plat and BAPP.

Plus 10 Nectar per £1 spent if you opt in to Nectar connect (if you can get it to work!)

I got 10% last month and bought tickets to Gatwick in a few weeks. Happy to see 12% for this month on my Gold card.

Does anyone know if you really have to use the card that you use to buy the ticket when collecting? I wasn’t given the option for e-tickets probably because I’m going out of London.

Thanks. Was just about to book an LNER ticket!

Historically, you could just put any payment card in the machine at the station so long as you had the reference number, however in recent months, certainly on East Midlands Trains, you do have to put in the card that you paid with to collect the tickets. Most tickets are e-tickets now but paper tickets still are necessary in certain circumstances, for example ones that include a tube journey.

You have to use the same card.

    Okay thanks guys!

12% + 10 Nectar (and an additional 2% Perks if buying LNER-specific tickets) is a corker. Hard to see anything bettering it.

Note that LNER is still offering its book with confidence until the end of this month. Free changes to Advance tickets.

Does Nectar connect only work if you are logged in, in the Amex app? If I log off the Amex app to use player 2 login, does nectar connect stop working?

Nectar Connect works through open banking. As long as the card is associated with your Nectar account, their evil data miners will trawl through your statement and find the transaction.

Ive never got nectar to connect to track a single purchase, never have any trouble with the other opportunities…

Yes, normally you do have to use the same card.

But sometimes if your account achieves “trusted” status, usually only after a long history of successful purchases, your future ticket purchases may be automatically set to any card collection.

Most TOC websites/apps should tell you if you can use any card to collect by means of a subtle change in the wording on the post-purchase page.

Also, you can collect at any station which appeared on the list from which it asked you to choose a collection station. So if you don’t want to bring the card on a certain trip, and you pass another train station earlier, you could collect the tickets then.

To avoid this situation, you can also buy e-vouchers and then use the vouchers to buy tickets, which would be set to any card collection if not e-tickets.

I now use the etickets in the LNER app for any of my journeys: Crosscountry, chiltern, GWR all seem to work fine with the app and not collecting at station.
One thing that did use to work before when collecting at station, was to ask at the ticket desk for them to print the ticket for you. They often just wanted the collection code and your name. This saved me from a few embarrassing situations when I brought the wrong card along. It’s also how lots of businesses book the tickets – using company credit card for individual pickup without card.

I used the 10% offer a lot on my cards and now I have not got the offer on my cards this time now.

I also am missing this offer now on any of my cards.

Alternatively, if you have any of the Paypal credits left, you can use PayPal on LNER
