Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club London to Hong Kong

    Hi all

I’m looking to fly to HK towards the end of Jan, around the 25th and then back Feb 5th or so. At the moment pricing seems to be quite low for China Southern (but this wouldn’t help me with TP / Avios unless it has a BA flight code – BA don’t seem to be showing me China southern flights yet!). All other options look to be more expensive.

Any thoughts on if its worth booking now? Does BA / Qatar have any typical sales in the next few months which may help?

    Thanks!

BA does have a code share agreement with them but HKG isn’t one of the destinations it applies to hence why you won’t see it offered as an option by BA

    Ah thanks for sharing

Flights out of HK may be more expensive around then as it’s CNY on 10th Feb. A lot of companies shut down or slow right down for two weeks so it was a favourite time of year for my expat friends to come back to Europe and go ski and visit family, especially if they hadn’t been back for Xmas

Maybe worth checking Finnair, don’t know what travel class you are looking for but they have a solid business class and fares sometimes keen.

Thanks – definitely worth considering. Unfortunately my dates are sort of fixed, looking to come back on the 5th of Feb +- a day or two.

Thanks! Looking for Economy in this case, although I’ve definitely heard the Finnair Business class is very worth it. Ideally I’d just like a return journey (with OneWorld) – can’t see any “deals” as such at the moment

Qatar have a fare from Madrid to Hong Kong for £539 if that’s of any interest – depart Jan 24 or 25, return Feb 2.

If price is your main consideration and you can only fly in Y, are TPs really important? You won’t be getting that many anyway

Have a look at CX out of Manchester, sometimes keen fares, also via travel agents serving the Chinese community.

Thanks! May actually consider changing my dates around, much better deals for earlier ones as you’ve suggested.

Thanks – do you know any agents?

One such agent has a £629 Y Class offer with CX flying LHR-HKG in Jan, expiring 31 Oct. The return sector might be an issue, though, but perhaps you can discuss this with the agency. Perhaps you can pay a fee to change your return flight. You’re welcome to PM me for the agency’s name.

Had no idea we could PM.

Probably can’t, it was an assumption. I’m new on here.

Thanks – unfortunately can’t PM, would you mind sharing here?

Just to add, my dates have actually changed a little – ideally need to 17-28th Jan (28th is the latest, so could work with 27th too)

Why not just use Google Flights and click date grid? Perfect for when you have a couple of days flexibility.

I did but have found that agents can get better pricing.
