Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club London to Saint Lucia

    Hi all

I’ve booked 4 x reward seats in Club for next Oct half term and want to buy 3 more returns for cash. Currently they’re at approx £3750 (just been released).

Does anyone have any insight in to whether I’d be best off booking now or whether prices typically fluctuate (downwards!) after initial release?

Google Flights is a good tool to check price history. I have found dates that are popular are expensive no matter what (so booking a flight to MAD for Xmas is expensive no matter how early I try to get it … but the more you wait the more it can go up … no last minute or early bargains to be had).

Kayak also plots the history of prices and gives an indication of whether they are likely to move up or down.

32 CW seats on a Gatwick flight. Max 28 remaining now on a premium route on a popular date, I wouldn’t bank on BA needing to sell these for much less and indeed if a couple of families book on the price could go up further !

Caribbean routes are like this. Grab what you can.
If you can’t find enough seats there’s always the trek via the USA.

If you mean just released as in T-355, BA do charge a premium for a couple of weeks as anyone paying cash that far in advance is clearly desperate to secure that exact flight. If you look at Google Flights a couple of weeks earlier you should see a more typical price. Unless it’s school holidays I can’t see how it will stay at the peak price. According to the Google price graph, normal for a 7 day trip seems to be about £2300-£2600. I’ve paid much less in the past, but that was pre-pandemic.

Were it me, I’d give it 3-4 weeks and then book. But then I’m also OK flying WTP if CW is poor value by my judgement.
