Hello HFP, whilst I’ve used the HFP forum for hotels and card deals because of owing a business we’ve been unable to travel long distances. Now that we’re free we’re planning our first ‘proper’ trips, the first being to Oman in March.
In order to maximise deals and to avoid making rookie mistakes I have the following questions, firstly flying from Manchester (only) we’re looking to fly via Doha on Qatar then on to Muscat after a stopover (using their package). Last week I took advantage of the RJ status match so I’m now Gold Sparrow, would this status allow me free seat selection when booking? Also I’d rather the earned Avios be credited to my BAEC account if possible.
Secondly if I book an economy cash fare (one way) can I use Avios to upgrade to Business? My Avios are with BAEC.
Any help would be really appreciated, maybe tips on Muscat/Oman where we plan to hire a car and tour round.
There’s a good thread on the destination forum https://www.headforpoints.com/forums/topic/oman/
Yes, you should be able to log in via the RJ site, add your RJ number to the booking and then select seat. You can then change to your BAEC number by contacting BA via twitter, during check in or at the airport.
Upgrades, depends on the fare bucket I think, others will know better.
