Forums Payment cards American Express Lounge Access – Probably Basic Question

  • gingercat 6 posts

Hello. I suspect that this is a basic question, but I am finding myself confused.

I have an Amex Gold and my partner is an additional cardholder. The card was taken out in Sept 2022. I vaugely remember getting a letter from Priority Pass (I don’t know where it is) and I have signed up to the PP app. However, I have not so far used it for lounge access.

In July, myself, my partner and our son are going on holiday via Heathrow T5. Can I use PP to get lounge access for all 3 of us?

Some places I read say I have four passes and some say I have two. The app doesn’t show how many I have, so I am just very confused.

    Thank you

The rules changed last October and you now get 4 passes, not 2, per year. So yes, you can get lounge access for all 3… provided there is space in the priority pass lounge (club aspire). Currently that’s a big if.

See https://www.headforpoints.com/2022/10/13/american-express-gold-changes-launch-today/ for more details on amex gold changes

Thank you. Should I be pre-booking the lounge, or is it a case of having to turn up and see on the day?

Also, do you know what the rate is to bring in guests? Wondering if I can use two passes plus guest on the way out and same on the way back.

It’s £20 per person for any additional guests.

You mentioned your wife being an additional cardholder does she not also have PP with 4 passes ? Genuine question I don’t know.

Only the main card holder of the Gold card gets the 4x passes each year (but as mentioned above, the main card holder can bring guests in to the lounge). Check the priority pass app for details of lounges.

The Plaza Premium is now an option too. But at T5 you almost certainly need to prebook to gain access and even then once I couldn’t even get near the door it was such a mess…
