Forums Payment cards American Express Luxury Escapes £200 offer – Platinum Amex

This might help someone. You’d need to be super quick as the offer ends on 06/01/24. I found some economy flights to the Far East via Google Flights and was ready to book directly via the airline for 4 of us. Somehow clicked on this Amex offer to see if they did flights and they have added it as a ‘new’ feature. Searched and it showed same flights, but £10 more expensive. I had the same offer on both platinum main and supplementary. Somehow they added a £40 service fee and £5 ATOL fee per booking so instead of £400 credit the actual value I got was £270 off. The good thing is the £200 x 2 were credited the very next day by Amex. I know people are wary of OTAs and I normally book directly with airlines too, but I just went for it this time as I was booking economy anyway.

QC has boosted cashback tomorrow for secret escapes

Oh I just clicked via the Amex offer to be sure I got the credit and they don’t say I went through some other channel. Also, the offer is for Luxury Escapes and not Secret Escapes.

But TCB does have Luxury Escapes at 4.5% so I am not sure if Amex credit would get impacted or not. It would have meant I would get £90+ back from them but I just didn’t want to risk losing from Amex if I didn’t click through their offer link.

Sorry, it’s only 0.85% for flights so I am glad I didn’t risk it!

You dont have to click through for amex offers, it’s how the card is billed that counts. (no 3rd party payment processors such as paypal).

So you could have got your 0.85%.

I must have interpreted it incorrectly, but hopefully more people can avail + TCB too.

Is this a cumulative offer? Have read T&Cs on Amex but can’t figure it out

Has anyone booked hotels with Luxury Escapes previously?

I have a pre-planned trip to Krakow coming up and have booked a refundable rate of £1030 but via hotelsdc and pay on check-out. The same hotel at the same rate is available on Luxury Escapes but it’d qualify for the £200 back plus 6% QDC as I’m a new customer.

It also looks like it’s a fully refundable rate via Luxury Escapes but they appear to want my payment details now and for me to pay now (where hotelsDC is payment on checkout). I guess this is the price to pay to get £200 from Amex / Luxury Escapes (as clearly I wouldn’t pay them on checking out of a hotel).

Also – my trip isn’t until next month (yes will be freezing) but I wonder if I’ll get the £200 statement credit soon after I pay. Ie would they then claw back the £200 if I cancelled my fully refundable reservation?

    Many thanks!

they usually pay out quickly, but always claw back on cancelled/refunded things in my experience.

The terms state “when you make a single, eligible transaction of £1000+”. Not sure how strictly this is enforced though.
I used the Royal Caribbean spend £1500, get £250 offer last week over two transactions. That offer had the same line so will see if it credits.

I used it for a deal on a booking at the Kempinski Singapore last week and the £200 credit appeared the next day. It was fully cancellable but they bill it up front in full, which suited me.

Happy days many thanks. I miss out on 4 “stamps” but happy to take £200 immediate credit. Glad I checked now! Cheers again.

Anyone know if payments done over the phone to split the payments would it make it ineligible?

    @highnal
Did you get it to work by doing more than one transaction? Please could you let us know. Thanks.

To all who’ve booked already – care to share a referral code? This would entitle us to an extra £25 benefit.

Given your username & the cigar and champagne in your profile picture I’m quite surprised you’re after £25, but every little helps I suppose 🤪
