Forums Other Destination advice Madrid connections on hand baggage

Hi, can anyone advise on the process for arriving at MAD on IB from the Americas with an onward BA flight to the UK on a separate ticket with no checked baggage?

I understand that both airlines arrive and depart from T4S as non-Schengen flights, and presume I’ll need to clear immigration when arriving from the first flight? But am I then free to access T4S departures area, or do I need to leave and re-enter from the main T4?

    Thanks.

I’ve connected at T4S, but always with through ticketing. My guess is they may let you through the connections channel if they can check that you don’t have any checked luggage.
How long have you allowed for between flights?

It’s no issue and really simple (have done it multiple times), so long as you check in to your BA flight online and present your BA boarding pass at security before passport control. They couldn’t care less whether it’s a single ticket or not.

I have 4:30 hrs, so barring delays, time shouldn’t be a concern.

IB’s website does say that for non-Schengen to non-Schengen you don’t need to go through passport control, just look for your gate after arriving, but I’m guessing this is specifically for a flight connection on IB.

Thanks, I think you’re saying to just follow the route for regular connections, so all the while remaining within T4S, and not clear security back at the main T4?

    Exactly
