Hat tip to FT. Not sure a pretentious new name is going to induce many people to part with £150 each for proper F & B!
You’ve not read today’s chat this morning then? 🙂
There will be plenty of uptake with the footballers, pop stars etc.
Used to be £50 cabin bag only, £100 with luggage. Quite a steep increase to £90/£150.
Indeed, if someone subsequently fails to board their flight after using this lounge, they may well have disappeared into the Aether 🤷♀️😂
It should have its own thread, even though it’s MAN!
Another trip up north beckons for Rhys.
Aether? As in anaesthetic ? How pretentious is that ?
I was thinking more of the invisible element of the ancient Greeks, @LL, though maybe given the northern love of alcohol, it may well result in unconsciousness!
*Yeah, maybe not so much the primordial spirit of light and more the cause of passing out drunk 😂😂😂
I can see ones thinking they’ll skip staying at a hotel the night before their flight and enjoying a more civilised pre-flight experience for similar money (given the prices of hotels at MAN).
In yuckness as a name it comes close to Whispering Angel.
All we need to see now is a similarly pretentious Press Release.

Although they’ve followed similar pathways from Greek and Latin to English, I think, I don’t believe aether is related to anaesthetic. Aether refers to “air”, while anaesthetic relates to “without feeling/sensation”. Does still sound pretentious though.
I think @LL is referring to the chemical ether, which was an early anaesthetic.
Just seen it’s £170 per person if you’re checking bags.
I searched for Rob’s review without success but from memory you were to be driven to the steps of the plane. Now if I read it correctly it is to the gate to complete boarding as normal.
Pay £150 per person to use an off-site lounge before being driven to the terminal. That is an altogether less premium experience and will prove more of a stumbling block than the price.

Steps of the plane, bottom of the gate area, no difference really. If there’s a jetbridge you’ll be escorted up the stairs from the tarmac onto the jetbridge, if it’s loading by stair from the asphalt – (EZY/RYanair) then you’ll be driven to the steps.
If it’s a bus to the plane for the cattle then no idea.

He was driven to the gate but got to skip to the front of the queue and board first.
“The two PremiAir staff and I went into the terminal, up to Departures, and then did the 45 second walk across to Gate 135 which BA was using.
I was Group 1 boarding anyway, but the PremiAir staff took me to the front of the line and told the agents at the gate to let me go first.”
The website says: “Our staff handle every detail, allowing you to simply unwind and breathe. Dedicated chauffeur-driven cars are waiting to take you from aether to your plane when it’s time for you to board your flight.”
That would be quite amusing, being chauffeur driven to your £20 Ryanair flight. O’Leary will probably charge a drop-off fee!
But when you read the details of the packages it actually states:
“After security you will be driven to your departure gate in a private luxury vehicle where your airline will perform final checks and you will board as normal.”
I appreciate that airlines need to perform the final checks before boarding but there is nothing here about an expedited service. I know what “normal” is like at Manchester and I don’t fancy that.
Hopefully reality is different and the treatment Rob received is part of the process.

Exactly, normal no thanks! I flew Vueling last week. Jesus wept, the boarding process was a dogfight
