Forums › Payment cards › American Express › Marriott and Meliá cash back offers not honoured

I have just returned for France and Spain, met the amount for both of these offers but not getting the cash back because I paid in euros, anyone else had this issue?
That’s a nonsense; Amex don’t do DCC so you can only pay in Euro.
Are you certain both hotels were on the list of eligible properties? If so, screenshot the offer saved to your card in the Amex app, and its T&Cs. Then raise it on Live Chat in the app and see where you get to.
If you’ve just returned, it may be that they’ve just not been credited yet, they take a week or two to be credited to your account sometimes.
The paying in euro doesn’t matter, as Amex convert what you spend into gbp, and it’s based on that gbp spend that triggers the offer, providing you’ve spent the target amount.
As said above, it’ll probably take a week or so to hit your account, I used the Marriott offer in Amsterdam and Rotterdam last month (on Gold and Bonvoy cards), bill paid in euros and both paid out.
Check to see if the offer has moved to “redeemed/used” tab in the Amex app – mine moved there immediately when I settled my hotel bills. If so your cash is on its way.I’m sure I’ve read a similar question earlier today.
Whoever told you that they don’t qualify because they were charged in Euros is talking nonsense. As long as you’ve met the qualifying spend, when converted to Sterling you’ll be fine.
According to the Marriott terms, it may take 90 days from the 30th June to receive the £100 on the £300 spend.
That is, of course, if your hotel is one of the ones on the official list…
It took 9 days for a Marriott cashback of mine to hit (finally got it yesterday). They can drag on.
What did we decide was the rule about whether the (not broken out) Amex FX fee counts towards the total?
Amex did confirm it to somebody on here. Disputed it with me tho.
Few of us who had delayed payment (ours was months later) 200/75 back. The forex fee in Paris took it well over the £200. But my euro spend converted to just over the 200 excl the forex fee, so wasn’t too worried. There were several attempts by Amex not to pay out to others on the forum. I had to get a supervisor to finally approve it.
Someone else has it written in chat that “it’s total charge, once it’s over £200) They kept a copy for future ref.
Think last year they had so many Marriott offers they hadn’t a clue in the end.
Last month, like you, had both credits paid back within a week, no issues this year. That was at County Hall tho.
