Mexico City to London which is the best lounge to use travelling 1st class BA?

Unfortunately, it’s a question of the least bad option at MEX! They send you to the AA lounge if travelling F or J and there is no separate F section. It’s dated and can be quite crowded. Alcoholic drinks are served by the same grumpy (unless you tip him a suitable sum) barman who has been there for years. Food is very basic. No views, but flight is night time anyway. There is more than one Amex lounge, but not much good either. The good news is that the food used to be terrible on that flight back, but recently was actually quite good.

Thanks JDB but I thought the lounge closed at 9pm?

I’m not sure what time it closes, but the BA flight is at 9pm and they didn’t chuck us out when the flight was an hour late last month. Save in Jan 2021 when the lounge was closed for covid, the AA lounge has been open for the BA flight that has been at 9pm for a long time.

The BA flight to London leaves at 23.00 so will have to wait and see, keep fingers crossed it stays open thanks.

Sorry, that must be the summer season then? We do that flight once or twice a year and has always been at 9pm in the autumn/winter timetable and am booked again at 9pm in Nov. I imagined that your flight must be quite soon or even that you were in CDMX now if you were worrying about the lounge! BA used to offer the IB or JAL lounges as well, but no longer, so I’m not sure what the position is, but I imagine they will give you some option.

The restaurants/bars are conversely quite OK!

Basically, all the lounges are pretty average @ MEX.

The only one, from our experience, worth spending any time in was the American Express Centurion lounge. If you hold an Amex Platinum (or Centurion card) then I would strongly recommend going there. Food and beverage is very solid, it’s a nicely appointed lounge and a good deal better than other options at Mexico City Airport.
