Does MH interline to BA flights on separate tickets?
I see the below text on their website and unfortunately my MH>BA flights will be the return leg of the trip.
“For flights on oneworld member airlines, Malaysia Airlines still allows passengers to check-through to a final destination with baggage even if the sectors are ticketed separately on separate bookings provided the travel begins with Malaysia Airlines. Please note that this may not be possible on your return journey if travel begins with another oneworld member airline that chooses to adhere to the new oneworld obligation. Certain oneworld and code-share flights allow our passengers to check-through while some do not. Please confirm the status of your ticket at the check-in counter.“
Should I book the return leg as a separate ticket to work around the ‘return leg’ restriction? It’s a 2-4-1 booking, so I need to book the return leg myself and call BA for applying the voucher?
They’ve told me on the phone that they interline with all one world partners.
Their FAQs confirm this
They offered to through check my luggage from Kuching (Borneo) > Kuala Lumpur> Bangkok > Doha > Birmingham.
The last couple of flights being on Qatar with award tickets (separate booking).
I declined as I felt it was too risky and picked up my luggage in Bangkok and checked back in again. So I see no reason why they can’t do that for you on your separate ticket BA flight.
What would have been too risky? Theres more risk of masconnecting having to pick up luggage. They also basically check you in to all flights so again less risk.
@OP If that’s what it says then I would assume it’s fine. Qatar will happily interline in my experience makes return legs less of a worry.
