Discuss today's stories:
I am a BA Silver Executive Club member. I have been silver since 2016. My collection year is March to March, so my current collection year ends March 2023.
Since March 2022 I have earned 920 tier points. Between December 2020 and February 2022 I earned 600 tier points (320 tier points between March 2020 and March 2021 and 280 tier points between March 2021 and March 2022). So I have earned 1520 tier points since December 2020.
BA’s website says regardless of when one’s tier year ends one can benefit from reduced tier point qualifications up to 31 December 2022 to retain or upgrade their Executive Club status. BA is telling me that I do not qualify for the upgrade status to Gold (1125 tier points to 31 December 2022) because the reduced tier points of 1125 must only be earned in this year’s collection year i.e. since March 2022, so for me BA insists that the 1125 points can only be earned between March 2022 and 31 December 2022.
Has anyone else faced this? This is not the impression created by BA’s communications and other postings I’ve seen.
BA is correct.
I admit that what BA did was confusing (although we did run multiple articles explaining it) because they imposed an arbitary cut off of 31st December irrespective of your year end.
However, yes, you need to get to 1,125 in your current membership year before 31st December.
If I were you, I’d book a couple of long weekends to routes that earn 160 tier points in Club Europe (Athens, Malta etc) or a BA Holidays package to one of those places to get double tier points – https://www.headforpoints.com/2022/09/03/ba-holidays-extends-double-tier-points-offer/
It is worth it, if only because after your year of Gold you’d be guaranteed a soft landing to Silver, however few points you earn.
