Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

    Good Afternoon,

My wife booked flights on 31-Aug using her Companion Voucher for Aug-2024. We are part of a household account. We can clearly see the Avios have been debited from both our BAEC accounts, the Companion Voucher has disappeared and I can see the taxes/charges have been debited from my BAPP Amex. However, the booking is not showing in either of our BAEC accounts and my wife did not receive a booking confirmation.

Is there any other way of obtaining the booking reference, other than calling BA… which I would really rather not do?

I’ve been having issues for quite sometime where bookings made in my wife’s account, which include me and my BAEC # do not then appear into my account. However, this is the first time where a booking confirmation wasn’t received.

Is there a way to fix this, or is just another of the wonderful BA IT quirks?

    TIA

Strange she didn’t get an email. Has she checked spam?

AMEX paid for bookings usually include the booking ref and / or ticket number as part of the transaction

In your BAEC accounts it should show when you click on the avios transaction to show the detail of it.

If you check Amex statement, or go into transactions and select Additional Information, it should show you the ticket number (starting 125).
You should be able to use this number in Manage My Booking on Finnair website, which should show your booking reference.

Thanks @APPL – The Amex Statement –> Finnair approach worked.

@BA Flyer IHG Stayer – Unfortunately, BA now seem to have decided neither my wife or I can access our accounts. They were accessible until just before I submitted my original post, so I’m going to assume its another IT glitch. Will check-out your method later.

You are both stars, thank you.

Just for future reference – I always wait until the booking is complete and then take a screenshot of the PNR which comes up right at the end. Then if you don’t get an email confirmation you can add the booking to your BAEC account immediately.

One thing that’s a bit annoying is that if you book using a 241 that you have to do via BA, but all the flights are on Iberia, you can’t see the booking in the BA app or online; it says there needs to be at least one BA flight, so it knows the booking exists but won’t let you see it.

I have a MAD-MEX-MAD-LHR with IB booked with a 241 and I can see it on the BA app. Seats and all other options need to be selected via IB which is normal for all airlines (app is not bad).

The only thing you need to know is that the booking ref for BA is not the same IB uses so you need to get hold of that (you can find it when you go select a seat and BA then displays a link to the IB site).

@yonasi maybe it’s because my booking was all BA with a 241 LHR-EZE-LHR which we changed to all Iberia when BA canned the direct flights. It just says there needs to be at least one BA flight. I’m aware of the different IB PNR (on top of the Amadeus one and the BABS one).

But not always. I have a 125 ticketed BA booking containing 4 Iberia flights all with IB flight numbers that shows perfectly on my BA app.
