The hotel says arrivals at international airport by 3:30pm will be able to transfer to seaplane same day.
Our flight lands at 2:40pm. Is that cutting it too fine?
It appears there is a fast track immigration service offered for USD 200pp. Is that worth paying for?
I think 3.30 is a general cutoff time that all hotels quote, rather than the seaport shutting down at 3.30. I think it might be do-able, but the hotel will advise, I’m sure. When we did it last year, the hotel people who met us took our passports/luggage straight to the TMA kiosk and completed the formalities within 5 minutes, and the transfer to the seaplane terminal was about 10 minutes by car afterwards. Immigration was smooth – I wouldn’t pay to expedite it. The only question is how long you’ll have to wait at the baggage carousel.
The 15:30 cut off is based on the landing time of the flight, so for example it includes the Emirates flight that lands at 15:30, but any flights scheduled to arrive after this wouldnt be accepted. Sea planes continue to fly long after 15:30 and basically until sunset, so providing you dont get much of a delay you will be fine.
I also think you will be fine. 2.40 is quite early.
Unless you are hand luggage only, you won’t save any time with fast track anyway.
The seaplane will wait for the last passenger booked on it. You are more likely to have an hour in the hotel lounge than be late for your plane.
Agreed. If your plane is on time or a little late you’ll be fine. If your plane is several hours late you’ll be stuck in Male (or on an alternative normal plane and speedboat combination depending on where you’re going). Paying for fast track immigration won’t help you either way.
