Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards New promo – stay 10 nights & get Diamond (targeted)

  • BA Flyer IHG Stayer 2,670 posts

    Received an email last night.

Stay 10 nights between 1st October and 31st December and get Diamond for 2025.

Email says it’s a targeted offer and pre registration already opened.

    Usual IHG promo T&Cs apply.

Surely you’re already diamond though, no?

I havn’t qualified for next year though.

Currently short on both nights and spend so this will take the pressure off that.

Just need to decide whether to make to 70 for the 2 CSUs

I’ve an offer on the app for stay 5 nights in Club InterContinental to earn Platinum status for a year. Valid for stays until 31 Dec 2024.

    Same for me as well.
Diamond for 2025 by staying 10 nights is probably more interesting!

Doesn’t make sense. Cheaper just to sign up for Ambassador.

Feeling left out now – the only offer I’ve got apart from the recent 3K every 2 nights is being ‘invited’ to join Ambassador for the normal price. Whoo hoo, as if I can’t do that at any time anyway.

Agreed. Would only come in handy if you were planning such a stay anyway.

Not happy. Where’s the equivalent offer for me? Just booked 14 one night stays in run up to year end to ensure hit the 40 night lounge threshold…

(Yes I know they don’t need to be single nighters but works for me..).

The only email I got was to say I only needed 66 nights more to retain Diamond this year. since I’m not planning to spend much of the rest of the year in a Holiday Inn, I’ll let my status drop.

Nothing for us either, we must be eating too many breakfasts!

I’m aiming to requalify by bonus points, but I’m nowhere near yet (only 10k points so far due to redeeming). I do have 10 nights booked at the 5k point rate but I didn’t get any offer.

I am aiming for 40 nights for lounge pass, but if I did get the offer I might just do 10 nights and not bother.

I wouldn’t ever go for 70 nights as I’d rather put those to Hilton.

I’ve discussed with IHG. They’ve explained that this offer, unsurprisingly, is targeted at those who stay but who are not already Diamond. As an existing Diamond who is staying more than 10 nights in the next 3 months but who still won’t retain Diamond I’ve tried to get myself added to the list. Adding that I’m also Diamond with Hilton through 31 March 2026 (which I am…) and if not Diamond with IHG too that will inevitably direct my stays towards Hilton and away from IHG. Which makes my strategy largely ditch IHG for 18 months and then come back for a match / targeted offer – pointing out I am already emptying my points balance with that in mind. So daft from an IHG perspective.

They were having none of it 🤷

    Just 2 comments in response.

    1. IHG has been doing targeted offers for some time. Earlier this year it was offering double qualifying night or various levels of bonus points and I didn’t get any of those offers. I wonder if some of those who didn’t get this one got some of those.

    2. Clicking on randomly posted links often won’t work these days. Not long ago Rob posted an IHG offer. I hadn’t received an email about it but tried the link. Entered my email and up popped a message telling me this offer isn’t available for me. IIRC he even said it may not work.

I can’t remember the last time I got a targeted offer. Which suggests to me that their algorithm says not to bother. Which translates to me to ‘I’m staying there too often…’.

I won’t entirely ditch IHG. The choice between IHG and Hilton is not of course status binary. And I will still have IHG lounge access via 40 nights. But I’m retired with loads of time on my hands and a yearning still to travel. Given the choice of travelling somewhere new and exciting with an excellent Intercontinental and travelling somewhere equally new and exciting with an excellent Hilton the choice becomes easier. But not as easy as if I didn’t have Intercontinental lounge access anyway. Perhaps more a choice of where there are no lounges – free breakfast vs lack of…

I received no special offers since the double night credits in April

I did 5 nights in Q1, Q2 and Q3, and planning to do 25 in Q4 (to get lounge pass) but only booked 5 so far.

That’s exactly the point I’m making – you got that offer but I and others didn’t,

Now I and others have got this offer but you and others haven’t.

If they dont deem me worthy of being included in the offer, I dont deem them worthy of getting my money, so have moved my IHG cash bookings to Hilton. Wasnt gonna be doing enough IHG stays to retain diamond, so no need to use them.

Yes I did understand your point. Anyway I have just received another double night credit offer from IHG, so I think I will now cancel 2 stays and still get my lounge pass… At least the T&Cs seem to say it will work like that.

I have a 4 night stay from 30 Sep-4 Oct and the promo period starts on 1 Oct, so not sure if that will credit me 4, 7 or 8 nights or should I register later…

Well it works both ways, last year some people who had barely stayed got an offer to retain Hilton diamond with just one stay, and I stupidly did 20 stays to only get gold, which I have barely used because I haven’t found any value in Hilton properties vs IHG where I’ve wanted to stay.

The problem for me is that IHG has no lifetime status

Worth noting I got a weaker targeted offer, next two stays up until end of year are bonus elite night up to 7 days per stay. So if did that next two stays of 7 days would generate 28 elite night credits

    How do you get 2×7 = 28?

BA Flyer IHG Stayer 2,670 posts

    2×7 = 14 nights

Doubled up due to the offer = 28!

TBH where I am in my expected number of nights I’d prefer this one as it would get me over 70 so earn me a the additional reward achievement options!

I got this one too. As a data point, I am already Diamond, have 13 nights for the year and another 9 nights booked.

I hope to qualify on points for Diamond, so the bonus nights are not much use. But I will take them anyway 🙂

    Still waiting for mine…
