If I cancel my Bonvoy Amex, what happens to my 15 elite night credits?

Good afternoon all! I had a Q re the Marriott Bonvoy Amex. The elite night credits already posted in my bonvoy account and that was really the only purpose of holding that card. Is anyone familiar with what happens if I now cancel that card? Will they also remove the elite nights? Secondly, what would happen if I canceled now and take it out again towards the end of the year? I was on chat to Amex and called, but noone was really able to give me a real answer – does anyone have experience?
