Hello,
This might have been discussed at length here and on various other platforms but hopefully I will get some more clarity on where should I start my loyalty program.
I recently did a status match and got Royal Jordanian Gold Sparrow -> OW Sapphire. I used it for seat selection and lounge on an Avios redemption trip in January and used it again to get the seats for an upcoming trip to Seattle from GLA.
My dilemma here is should I stick to RJ Club or switch to another OW FFP given I will do at least 2 to 4 trips from GLA/EDI to India. My initial thought was to use Qatar Privilege Club as I can get a direct flight, via DOH, to my home city but I’m considering others too as I will have multiple short-haul flights within UK/Europe over the year.
Feel free to redirect to an already answered post, if available.
TIA
Have a look at Matt’s Planet on youtube, he does great analyses of IB, QR and AY+

Thanks for sharing those. I did look at all of them before posting here since I got confused between Finnair and Qatar FFP. The only thing I disliked about the Qatar FFP was the 1 year validity of status, rather than having it for the year you earned it plus the following year with Finnair.

That’s the main reason I chose AY instead, bit of a shame as I use QR often.
Royal Air Maroc’s Safar Flyer programme and Alaska Mileage Plan may be some good alternatives with easy ways to OW Sapphire (and cheap-ish). I’ve been doing some digging, trawling through the T&Cs of these schemes, and talking to their customer services to get as much detail as I can over recent weeks.
If you’re interested, I’m going to be trying to talk through the RAM scheme in a video I have scheduled for Saturday afternoon and Alaska’s scheme next weekend (and Malaysian Airlines in a few weeks time) over on my fairly new youtube channel (sorry if self-promotion isn’t allowed here). I struggled to find any detailed reviews of these programmes, so thought I’d give it a go myself: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsMVBYz36X8iOOaCWjs6Z6g

Cheers, will check it out – and subscribed 🙂
AY+
https://finnairpoints.com/ does help with getting an idea of how many AY+ tier points I can earn while flying any OW. And surprisingly, Avios redemption flights on AY for route EDI-DEL does use lesser Avios than BA.
Might have to actually choose AY+.

Nice one.

AY+ seems to work best for cheap long distance flights on AA/IB/BA. Other OW airlines (even codeshares) not so much. Short haul not so much either. This suits my travel patterns quite fine, and ironically it’s unlikely I will fly on AY much.
Agreed, they have some great redemptions.
