Does anyone know if AMEX tracks me via address?

As in I was going to apply for a new platinum card but hasn’t been 24 months. I’ve just done a live chat and she had no record of my card and asked for my old address to check the cancellation date.

So if that’s the case if I apply there will be no record of me ever having one before?

Lol, if only. Just think of all the debts we could leave behind by moving house and starting afresh.

Long held second homes. Now that’s a more nuanced conversation…

While the chat may be wanting to use your old address to locate a previous account, were you actually to make an application, Amex has rather more information at its disposal to identify whether you are a new customer or not.

Presumably you are hoping to fly under the radar in order to benefit from the current jumbo SUB, but these enhanced offers not only go up and up but they also come along more often than buses. If you apply prematurely and Amex works it out, you have reset your clock by another two years for nothing and you can’t change that, even if you cancel during the cooling off period.

No one’s ever thought of this before 🤣

You need to put your previous address in your application if it’s been less than x years. They’ll also have your DOB, your email, your telephone, connected parties from the credit agencies etc

There’s 99% chance they’ll know it’s you and it’s not worth the 1% to mess up the 2 year wait.

If you want to be 100% sure they don’t recognize you, just put on a fake moustache while you apply.
