Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Multi-carrier awards

  • 74 posts

Has anyone used Avios for a multi-carrier award in business class? What has your experience been?

The redemption rate seems quite attractive in certain situations (e.g. 6-week tour of Australia/New Zealand with a few stops en-route).

Would definitely recommend, by far my best redemption

A bit tricky to make the reservation, and had a few scheduled changes which meant missed connections, but to be fair to British Airways they resolved everything in the end. Also the England to a Greece segment was months later, but they didn’t mind

    Ireland->Qatar->Sri Lanka->Singapore->Malaysia->Thailand->Finland->England->Greece

    Qatar Airways
    Sri Lankan Airlines
    Malaysia Airlines
    Finnair
    British Airways

I can’t remember the exact cost, but think it was 200,000 AVIOS plus around £500 tax (all business class segments)

We did one uk – Qatar – Vietnam – Kuala Lumpar – Adelaide over land Melbourne – Perth – Mumbai – UK
All business except one short leg in economy and the last (and longest leg ) in Premium Economy.
This trip happened this Feb / Mar / April we wanted to go to Vietnam and at the time of booking some counties were still tricky for Covid regs.
We saved a bundle of Avios by having the longest leg in Premium Economy.

I had spent many hours trying to conjure something similar to include Xmas but eventually gave up, this was much easier.
Once it was all lined up the BA agent on the phone was great. We didn’t get any cancellations. Most of the layovers were about 3/4 hours.

    Airlines:
    BA Qatar Malaysian Qantas

Also had a couple of stand alone redemptions to get to Tasmania & back
