Just got my monthly email from Barclaycard and have been given a 25K bonus from avios current account “26,500 Avios with Barclays Avios Rewards”.Its already in my BA account.
I did not use the switch service so wasn’t expecting this at all. Anyone have any ideas why i got it. Have the credit card as well. I put in 3K into the current account on opening and swiftly withdrew it.

25k switching bonus, if applicable
100k bonus if you opened one or both the premier account and Avios plus account during the promo period.I also received 26.5K Avios today – 1500 premier Avios that I receive each month and the 25k welcome bonus. Both are showing as paid in my Avios rewards section within the Barclays app.
Would the same therefore apply to your situation and explain it?
Correct, on further investigation it clearly states its the joining bonus, thought i had already got this but clearly not. Just need the 100K to come in end of May and i’m up to 250K plus an upgrade voucher with another to come. Thanks Barclays !
Same situation here – the 25k (actually 26500 as above) arrived. No explanation. I was expecting the 100k but had forgotten the 25k.
I tried asking in the app chat facility but it’s super-clumsy to use and they don’t actually know anything.

This is my understanding too. You can actually see what it was for by logging in to the app and going to your credit card account. From there ‘view your Avios’ > ‘see your activity’ > ‘Avios Rewards’ tab, which sits underneath your points summary. In my case it is described as ‘Avios Prem Joining Bonus’

However, for various reasons some of which could be gleaned from various comments of @Rob’s in recent months, those not switching still got the 25k so it unintentionally morphed into a joining/welcome bonus. Whether those who did switch get 25k x 2, I don’t know.

I’d be very interested to learn if anyone got 25k X 2 for doing the CASS switch.
I didn’t CASS, but I did receive the 25k joining bonus. Just waiting on the 100k in due course. I have a spare current account sitting ready to switch, if there’s defo an extra 25k up for grabs.

The 100,000 Avios bonus is on top of the standard bonus for joining Premier Banking with Barclays Avios Rewards. This will be either 2,500 or 25,000 Avios depending on whether you are an existing or new Barclays current account holder.

I’d be very interested to know if CASS switch gets an additional 25k, as I have a spare current account sitting that would trigger this nicely. Anyone confirm?
I’ve switched and got 25k but labelled as a Joining Bonus. I haven’t got another 25k, so doesnt appear you get 2 lots, just appears those that haven’t switched got lucky.
I am going to do a switch with the account and will report back if I get another 25K!
I did the switch and received the 25,000 at the start of March followed by the 100,000 on the 19th March (I think it was a couple days after that but that’s the date it says in my BA account). I don’t think that switchers get an extra 25k over those who didn’t.
The terms ( https://www.barclays.co.uk/premier-banking/barclays-avios-rewards/ ) suggest the switch would have to have been carried out within 3 months of opening the account, also.

I’m Wish I hadn’t bothered doing the switch now!At the time of the promotion (and both before and now), it was a clear requirement to switch within three months to get the 25k (although it’s called a joining bonus), so you did the right thing to get them! Something went a bit wrong so they ended up giving them to everyone just for opening an account, but that was a fluke.
Well if you are also gunning for the 100k, I guess you also have the credit card, so there is an additional 25k there for the 3k spend of course.
I am going to do a switch with the account and will report back if I get another 25K!
If you do the switch outside the three month period you are only eligible for 2,500 rather than 25k and since you have had the 25k you are unlikely to get a second joining bonus at all.

How do you know something went a bit wrong? This could be different to the switching?

@BajiNahid – it was a windfall, don’t expect another and if you have left it for more than three months (which you must have done if you were eligible for the 100k) you can only now get 2,500 Avios, not 25k.
I thought it was (at least for brand new Barclays customers):
25K for getting avios barclaycard and reaching spend target (got that before Christmas)
100K for premium account and holding for 4 months (still waiting, account opened end October, have confirmed my eligibility
25K for switching on avios rewards with premium account (which also generates 1.5k per month) (got that last month)I did not switch my account via CASS and when I asked during application, was told there was no need to trigger the extra 25K, just needed to select avios rewards over blue rewards in the app. Also something something paperless statements and billing

I can guarantee that’s the T&Cs I signed up for. That’s either changed or Barclays have made a mistake (shock horror) as it’s quite clear people are getting the bonus regardless of switching.

I also believe what is clear is that nobody will get a double bonus (ie. a Joining and Switch bonus) but I would be happy to be corrected.

I am asking you and you have not responded to my question, how do you know that something had gone a bit wrong though? that’s just your presumption and not fact.

Interesting! Banking and IT systems being a bit crap strikes again maybe? I certainly have not switched our account, I only activated the Avios Rewards (as opposed to Blue) in the mobile app as requested by the Barclays rep. I hate the Barclays app so am v pleased have not had to use it for last 4+ months for anything other than transferring money in and out
