I’m pretty confident I’ve got this right but I’m a great one for making mistakes and misreading things, so before I potentially make an expensive error can you lovely people confirm me the following?
I can book a 5 night CE flight + hotel to a 160TP destination as a *solo* traveller this coming November and get 320TP.
With the 160 I already have that’ll be all I need to retain silver until June *2024*?
I am currently silver status:
My year end date is June 8th:
BA app is telling me I need another 440 🤔
As long as you don’t somehow find a way of booking this as a non-holiday then I say uh huh.
And assuming that your prior 160 was also from Marrakesh so that will be your four BA flights sorted too.
@AmyC – my app is also showing I need 600 TPs for Silver but I’m taking a punt that when I complete my 3rd and 4th BA flight next month I’ll be Silver even though I’ll only have 520 TPs!
Thank you both. Yes, I’d rather not go back to Marrakech so soon, not least because the lounge there is something I am still in recovery from. However, the alternatives are even more expensive or cold. Will bite the bullet and book then. It’s just when I see it in black and white on the BA site saying I need 600TP my fingers freeze.
Yes that would work. I am thinking of doing the same but to retain Silver. ignore the TP requirement in BAEC. BA IT couldn’t cope with the reduced TP requirements so they just left it at the old figures which apply from 1 Jan 2023.
You’d actually be Silver until the end of July 2024, plus a soft landing to Bronze until July 2025.
Stupid question alert: it would make no difference if I take off from LGW and return to LHR would it? It still counts as a holiday? (Sorry, I’m being paranoid I know). I just don’t trust BA to not have some stupid little rule.

No it makes no difference. Could equally be Luton or Stansted if BA flew from there. All London airports are the same.

It is just (another) limitation of the BA IT – in this transition year of reduced TPs until 31 Dec, the app can only show the normal TP requirement.
Please note, Members with a Tier Point Collection Year end date in 2023 will see the normal Tier Point threshold in the ‘My Account’ area on ba.com and the British Airways app from the start of their Tier Point collection year.
