Forums Payment cards Other payment cards New HSBC Premier Credit Card offer

  • 25 posts

I just noticed on the website it says 60000 points offer for getting the hsbc premier credit card. This would be 30k miles or 37.5k if redeeming avios under their annual 25% bonus offer.

Rob, I remember you previously mentioned HSBC never does sign up offers? Is this the best opportunity to jump on to this credit card?

The 25% bonus offer ends on Friday though. Unless they post the sign up bonus as soon as you hit the spend target, you won’t have time to take advantage of the promotion.

I get a feeling that 60k offers may become more common.

It’s simple maths. Fee is now £290 and 60k = 30k Avios worth around £300. People see it as ‘first year free’ and are willing to give it a go.

The old model, remember, was £190 for 40,000 points so that was ‘first year free’ (effectively) and so there was no need for promos.

How strict is the criteria i.e the £100k earnings? I do not earn close to that but have been a HSBC customer for over 20+ years. I was on an Advance account and out of nowhere last year, they upgraded me to the Premier one, despite not having big savings, investments etc with them.

    Worth a cheeky try?

@curiously when you apply for the account they do ask you to provide proof of income now. Especially as they have recently raised their salary requirements from £75K to £100K to weed out a few customers.

If you currently bank with HSBC then they’ll just review your account history to see if the salary totals £100K.

There’s firm talk of them actually downgrading people by April, anyone who does not meet the new requirement by that date will automatically have their accounts downgraded.

I can’t see for your situation it would be worth the hassle, for them to then change your account back to what it was and then change your premier credit card to an alternative credit card.

the criteria for the world elite card is that you have a premier account, which HSBC have given you. therefore you can apply for the world elite. just ensure you put your correct earnings on the application and there won’t be any issue
