So I gained silver status just over a week ago and I have been trying the “free seat selection”, however I am still being charged to choose seats for flights in April and May (which were booked before I was silver). Does the free seat selection for silver members only apply if you are silver at the time of booking?
After posting this question I checked again and it is now working. Seems like it must take a few days for the system to update or something.

Sometimes removing and re-adding your BAEC number (using Finnair or RJ websites) may help, but it sounds like you got it sorted now
I had the same concern last month. Having had my silver status confirmed, I was concerned I was unable to reserve seats on a future flight FOC. However, about 48 hours later the system eventually ‘caught-up’ and I was able to make a substantial saving.
