About 50 mins from LGW and very reasonably priced for how nice it looks.
Also has a helipad for the discerning HFP readership!
Just up the road from me. It’s a good hour via very rural roads to Gatwick.
Know it well. Local to my parents and even my brother got married there. Nice hotel but summer weekends are somewhat of a wedding conveyor belt and def wouldn’t consider it a Gatwick launchpad if you literally want somewhere to spend the night before a flight
For a Sunday night before a late afternoon flight (we’re doing stuff nearby the day before), it’s priced from £97 for a standard room as opposed to £277 for the LGW Hampton! A swim and sauna will be nice after breakfast before heading off as well.
In fairness, a cheap Sunday night is prob the best time to stay, especially if can get good use of the facilities. I think I’d be much happier there for an evening and leisurely morning compared to being camped out at the side of the M23 trying hard to kill time until my afternoon flight
It has been in the IHG portfolio (unbranded) for a while now, it’s just the Voco reflag that is relatively new. It was written up on HfP earlier this year : https://www.headforpoints.com/2023/03/04/ihg-adds-lythe-hill-hotel-to-voco-brand/
The Tripadvisor reviews are very inconsistent so I’ve never been tempted to try it.
@asefetl, thanks for flagging that, I probably didn’t register it at the time as had no plans to be in that area! I did check out the reviews but there are plenty of 4 and 5-star ones and the most recent one gave it one star purely based on a bad experience of room service, which won’t apply to us.
If you’re not bothered about being on-site at LGW for an early departure, it’s a much better deal than the Hampton at £293 and the Hilton at £177!
My partner stayed there as she was playing golf at a nearby course.
She said the check in staff were lovely and she got a free upgrade to a suite. However this might have been due to her being a platinum member and it was a Tuesday night. She also paid with her free room achieved with Creation Credit Card.
The only facilities she used was the restaurant and the swimming pool.
She said she definitely stay there again.
