Hello
Ne to the BAEC. My Tier Point YEAR WILL END ON 08/09/24. By then I will have achieved enough points to have achieved bronze level (430).
Am I correct in thinking I will remain a bronze member for the following year?
In order to achieve silver level will I have to earn 600 points between 09/09/24 and 08/09/25 as I suspect? Or will just an additional 170 do it?
Thanks in advance.
You will need to earn another 600. Your tier points will reset to zero.
Yes when you earn a higher status it’s valid for the remainder of the current year plus the following year.
Your tier point count resets at the end of your membership year so you start each year in zero. So after 9/9/24 you’d need 600 to hit silver or if you earned the extra 170 (making 600 in total) before 9/9/24 you’d jump straight to silver.
A weekend trip to Sofia would earn 160TP if you flew club Europe so if you did that before the end of the current membership year you’d be 10 away from silver which should be easy to do. Since silver is where you start seeing more benefits it’s worth considering
Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. The trip to Sophia makes sense.
And although your TP year end date will be 8Sep2024 you will have Bronze until 31 Oct 2024. Status ends at the end of the month after your TP reset date.
It looks like a moot point anyway. My last batch of points come from a hotel and flight booking which earns double points. Only we land back in the UK on 01/09/2024 and apparently the additional points are not credited to you until 14 days after your flight so I’ll just miss out which is annoying! lol
Points May be credited a couple weeks later, but will relate to flight date for TP earning purposes.
Return Flights completed before 08 Sept will credit to your current TP earning year so not a moot point as they will earn you your Bronze status.
That also means that a TP run to Sofia to potentially earn Silver before 08 Sept 2024 is still worth considering.
Thanks again for the feedback.
Another newbie question….
If I book a flight and pay cash but use avios for an upgrade, will you receive any tier points for the cash part of your flight / the whole flight / or as I suspect, none at all?
Thanks in advance.
Pros, same question here.
I was a sliver member in the tier points collection year 8 Sep 2022 to 8 Sep 2023, I only got 40 tier points during this period, and the card expiration date was 30 Oct 2023. So, I should be downgraded to Bronze after 30 Oct.
However, I have flown some BA flights after 8 Sep 2023 (the new tier points collection year) and got 600 tier points and 4 BA flights, then the card expire date was updated to 30 Oct 2024.
My question is how long I can hold this sliver status since I have achieved these 600 tier points? until Oct 2024 or Oct 2025?
It seems it is very tricky, maybe I need to wait for the status downgrade to Brozone and then do the 600 tier points flights so that can have it to Oct 2025?
Many thanks!
If you earn 600 TP and 4 BA flights, after 8 Sept 23, you’ll be Silver until end of Oct 25. If you earn 600 TP before 8 Sept 23, you’ll be silver until end of Oct 24.
