Hi Everyone, I’m looking far in advance but seeing no seats or availability for CW flights to Tokyo. I can see a few literally world traveller plus and some eco, but nothing for CW. Am I missing something?
I’ve got >100k miles and no way to spend them. It seems I can go to New York every 10 minutes but everywhere else seems the aren’t releasing reward seats.
Tokyo is a popular destination and if you aren’t booking club tickets the second they are available they it’s unlikely you’ll get any.
Consider Tokyo in the same category as Maldives, Sydney, Singapore for demand in Club World/First Avios seats.
I don’t think comparing it to NYC is fair when probably 8 plus flights a day – only two a day I can see to Tokyo on BA plus some on Japan airlines. I would check tonight at midnight to see what opens up – you may need to call up to get dates and times you want.
I’ve just booked LHR-SIN on BA, SIN-TYO on JAL, TYO-HEL-LHR on Finnair
May 2024
372000 Avios plus £1052 fees and taxes
All Business Class
If you have a BAPP 241 voucher, you could try starting in Manchester.
How many seats do you want? SeatSpy is showing odd single seats in CW in Jul/Aug/Sep/Oct. But as per the comments above, for TYO you really need to be booking as soon as they are released at T-355.

Obviously there’s a lot of potential factors to your actual plans, but I’d value that at £4700 give or take, and if the end goal is purely Japan in Business, then I’d recommend just looking at potential cash fares from EU cities like Dublin, Helsinki etc for more than half that… and booking the initial flight to DUb/Hel/etc on a reward.
Alex G massively overpaid in Avios unless they actually wanted to go to Singapore. Even a simple return LHR-TYO-LHR on JAL would have cost about 250k + £800 in tax.
At the moment Finnair has tons of availability to Japan. Consider also Finnair’s flights to Osaka as well as Shanghai/Seoul as these are short hops to Japan.
Out of idle curiosity, because I’m currently in Australia, I decided to check out Tokyo flights at 01:00 BST, 355 days out. The 8 business class award seats across 2 flights disappeared in just under 6 minutes…
