Evening all. Recently was on a very short club Europe reward flight from Rotterdam to London city with my daughter and noticed we were not offered a meal like we usually get – just a tiny bag of crisps and an oat bar with a choice of drink. Wasn’t that bothered as flight is so short but thought the crew should’ve told us there were no meals even though I could smell something cooking!
Anyway I contacted BA and got an email to say they’re sorry and here’s a £200 e-voucher. I know it seems ungrateful but if I replied and said please could I have some 20,000 avios instead would that be acceptable?
Thanks for any experiences / advice.Yes they’ll likely do this – make sure to click the “add information” link in the email and not reply directly as I’m pretty sure that email is unmonitored. BA sell Avios at a higher rate, so you may find you actually receive more like 25,000 Avios. Depending on the price you paid for the trip, you could also ask if that offer is compensation per passenger or just for you… though that may be too cheeky for your liking! 🙂
Ah thanks very much. I paid 14,500 avios and £95 for both of us. Wow if they give 25,000 avios that’ll be wonderful 🙏 but I’m guessing they may not! Thanks again.
Come back and let us know how you get on! See you in 3 months 😉

Yes I will 🤣
Yes, please do let us know. Hope you haven’t shot yourself in the foot however. Had you just accepted the £200 there would have been nothing else for them to do, but will this flag the fact that they are refunding you way more than you spent on the flight because you didn’t get a meal that M&S would be embarrassed to sell for a fiver?
I have complained in the past about food, and was offered an e voucher. I replied that I had booked the flight using avios, tend to only book avios flights, and I’d be ever so grateful if they could send me some avios instead. They did (and very quickly too). Nothing wrong with asking, the worst they can say is no.
Good evening. So feedback on what happened after I asked for 25,000 Avios – they said yes!🤗 I paid a total of 14,500 avios plus £95 for myself and my daughter’s ticket – so very pleased with the result.
Thanks to all of you who replied especially executiveclubber who gave me the courage to ask!
Very happy with BA speedy customer service.👏🏻 I honestly thought I wouldn’t hear from them for weeks!Well that’s a result. You’re £10 in profit and had a free flight, if you value Avios at 1p. A remarkable outcome.
My pleasure — and wow, that was fast! 🙂 @Londonsteve I think OP is £110 in profit as they spent 14,500 Avios in total? Could be wrong.
Thanks for the feedback.
Surprising amount of Avios IMO.@executiveclubber plus £95
@TGLoyalty, oh yes ha, how stupid of me! Whenever calculating shorthaul fares I usually focus so anally on the Avios I forget there’s even a bit of cash to pay 😂
