-
This morning I’ve received a slightly confusing email from American Express inviting me to enrol for one of my dining credits:
Subject: £150 Dining Credit Abroad – enrol now
Enrol now for up to £150 to spend in restaurants abroad
A gooey Raclette on the slopes or a fresh lobster salad by the sea, you could enjoy a fabulous meal with your Platinum Dining Credit abroad.Enrol now* and you’ll enjoy up to £150 credit when you use your Card at participating restaurants.
Button: Enrol now
*This is an additional enrolment to your UK Dining Credit.
Terms and conditions apply.I find this rather odd, given that we’ve not needed to enrol in recent years, and when I go to the Offers section of my app, the local and abroad “Platinum Dining Credit” items are listed in my saved offers, and when I tap on them, I see it showing “Saved to Card”.
Is there a new requirement to further enrol? The communication is rather unhelpful! Not sure whether things have really changed or whether the marketing department have lost their way.
I also noticed some separate strange behaviour from the app just now… the “Amex Dining – Dine Deliciously for less” item was listed as a new offer in the main list with a tappable (+) icon alongside. However when I tap it shows a dialog saying “You have already saved this Amex Dining – Dine Deliciously for less offer”. Perhaps just a bug – if I’ve previously saved the offer then I should expect it to be presented as a new offer and show an error when attempting to save.
Think of it as a reminder that you can use it again.
You don’t need to re-enroll. Indeed, I’ve already used my £150 for this year (on Saturday which was credited today) and I received the same email.
Just a badly worded email or an email sent to the wrong audience.
I had the same issue with the Amex dining 10% offer a few days ago. Just a visual bug.
I got this. Totally bizarre – especially because, at the bottom, there is a warning saying (in effect) – ‘warning, you may think you got this by mistake but that’s because you’re enrolled for UK credit and this is a totally separate thing’.
I haven’t got it, found it really annoying, I used last years on the 27th of December but because the credit didn’t post until the 4th of January i haven’t been offered another £150 for this year
I got one too, two days after I used the overseas dining benefit and one day before the credit appeared.
Yep – I got it too and clicked through, thinking I had to re-register, and it took me to a page that effectively said “what are you trying to do dummy, you are already registered!”
