Offer upgrade to premium economy on LHR->LAX BA0283

I recently booked an economy seat in BA0283 LHR-LAX for February 2026. It’s a 777-300. I paid 20k avios + £75 in the recent reward seat discount sale on BA’s site.

In ‘manage my booking’ I’m being offered an upgrade to Premium economy for £267. I have never used it before. I’ve only ever flown economy in long haul with BA. Is the upgrade worth it? I’m BA Silver.

For a LHR-LAX being able to use the lounge (silver) and then select a good PE seat is worth it for £270. You will have a proper seat with more legroom and also space between people (no more manspreading taking over your space).

As you need to be awake on most of the flight PE is a perfect way to fly to LA.

The OP gets lounge access regardless from being Silver, it doesn’t come with PE.

Notwithstanding that £267 is an excellent price and well worth it. However be aware that cash upgrades on reward flights are a bit quirky, and it may not actually work when you try to do it.

Yes sorry, I meant the experience of lounge then PE (being able to select a good seat as OP is silver) is a good combo.

I posted this thread at 10am this morning but it didn’t appear until 3:15 in the afternoon – either threads have to be vetted first, or it’s just been too long since I last posted 🙂 That’s why I posted on Flyertalk in the interim.
