Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club One way, one person – can the CC voucher be used?

Can the voucher be used at all, on a one way flight for a single traveller?

If it can (and because my wife has a voucher expiring before mine) – can I use the voucher from her account?

It can, however I think the person whose voucher it is might have to be Silver or Gold to be able to “donate” it to another traveller? Hopefully @davefl or another VS expert will be along soon to confirm.

Having said that though, it’s always worth calling Virgin and asking because they can be amazingly accommodating and nobody is entirely sure what the rules are since the recent changes anyway!

Sorry but I’ve given up on VS now as I’ll no longer be able to get CC Vouchers and any of my knowledge prior to last year’s changes is null and void. I’ll just run down my balance as and when there’s a bargain to be had.

    Yes, and officially:
    – as it’s a voucher for a return, and there’s no such thing as a half voucher any more, you’ll lose half the voucher
    – your wife will need to be Silver or Gold status to gift it to you, and you’ll need a Flying Club account of your own
    – the voucher is worth up to 75,000 points to you if you’re Red, or 150,000 if you’re Silver or Gold
    – you can top up with additional points (which can be purchased at the prevailing points.com rate on the phone) if needs be
    – you’ll need to pay the taxes, fees and surcharges

As @NorthernLass says, Swansea tend to be quite accommodating, so you might find that if your wife rings up and makes the booking, then you can get outsized value from the voucher as section 5.5.6 of the terms (https://help.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/policies/terms-and-conditions/flying-club-30-october-2024.html) state that the voucher holder does not have to travel. She could book with your details, so you could travel, and then you could even add your own FC number in at check-in to earn your own TPs (although you won’t earn points!).
