Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club oneworld partners not awarding BA tier points

    Hi all

First post and need some advice/guidance on the above topic.

My other half and I flew to Australia last month and we originally booked our business class flights with Qatar Airways via Doha. The trip should theoretically have generated 560 BA tier points each, through 4x 140 points legs.

A few weeks before the flight, we found out that Qatar Airways had “transferred” the flight to Finnair for the Copenhagen to Doha (and return) legs, presumably because they were maxed out due to the number of flights during the World Cup.

We flew all four flights successfully, two with Qatar Airways and two with Finnair with our BA executive club details logged. Since the flights however, we have only received the tier points from Qatar Airways for the Doha to Perth (and return) flights, with nothing received for the Doha-Copenhagen flights.

We’ve submitted missing tier point claims with both Finnair and Qatar Airways for the flights which Finnair operated on behalf of Qatar Airways and all the claims have been rejected. We think we’re due 280 tier points from one of the two airlines.

Does anyone have any advice on how to try secure these given the standard BA Partner claim route doesn’t seem to be working?

    Any guidance appreciated.

    Thanks

    Rob

What flight numbers were you assigned for the Finnair flights? Have you used those flights’ numbers to claim the missing TP and Avios?

Ordinarily, you need to use the partner claim form on BA’s website and enter the details of the flight number entered on your boarding pass.

I suspect your claim has been rejected as it looks like you’re claiming twice and the details you entered were wrong for some reason.

If you’ve claimed everything correctly I think you are going to have to call BAEC and explain over the phone. You could try going for original routing credit but I’m not sure whether that would just complicate things.

Or if you have a FlyerTalk account you could try private messaging the BA missing avios person there.

Are there any AY booking classes that don’t earn TPs, like CX P class?

    Thanks for the responses.

Our outbound booking class for both the Finnair and Qatar Airways flights was class “D” and the equivalent coming back for both was class “I”. As mentioned above, we received the tier points and Avios for both Qatar flights with those two classes above, but not the Finnair flights.

We first submitted a claim via the BA website to Qatar Airways using the Qatar Airways flight number and that got rejected quickly. We then submitted a subsequent claim to Finnair using the Finnair flight number and that too recently got rejected, though it took a lot longer for that to be decided. But there’s never been multiple claims with both airlines submitted at the same time.

We think we’re owed these tier points and Avios and Qatar Airways and Finnair might be saying the other party is liable?

I’ve had issues with QR crediting appropriately in the past – even after following the correct claim process they can still get be refused. A call to BAEC usually gets it fixed provided you can quote the PNR etc.
