Good morning all from Patagonia.
I have an open jaw companion voucher booking
LHR to Guatemala via Madrid, return Ecuador to LHR also via Madrid.
I’ve flown the outbound leg, but wish to change the return leg. My new leg would be SCL to OTP, via LHR.
I was told by BA agent that, because I already used the outbound leg, I can only return to my original departure airport, LHR in this case. I can’t add another leg to a SCL – LHR direct flight.
Apparently it’s a companion voucher restriction. Is this correct? I hung up to call again tomorrow as weekend takes about 1hr from BA CS to pick up the call.
Thank you.
Forgot to mention:
My initial booking was LHR-MAD-GUA, returning EZE-LHR-OTP. Changed the return city from Buenos Aires to Quito (QUI-MAD-LHR).
The agent mentioned it’s possible to do the booking returning to another city, but not after using the outbound leg.
@giboning – I believe the agent has advised you correctly. The problem is that what you are asking for isn’t actually a change as you describe it, but 1) cancelling and 2) rebooking for an entirely different routing and neither is allowed when using the companion voucher. Once you cancel the return, the voucher is then fully ‘used’. BA, within the terms and through unpublished policies, is incredibly generous in the use of vouchers but you are asking an awful lot here!
I agree with @JDB here that this won’t be allowed.
Before departure 2-4-1s can be very flexible (though that flexibility is still not unlimited and is often a cancel and rebook situation).
But after the outbound flight has occurred basically the only changes that can be made are to the date and not to the airports or routing (exception to that would be irrops but even then BAs 300 mile rule comes into play as well)
Is it not possible to change the return leg even for a city within the same zone after the outbound?
For example, if booked as LHR-SIN return, after outbound, can it not be changed to KUL-LHR?

The issue re zones (for pre travel bookings) was dropped pre-covid but no, essentially, once you have flown the outbound anything that means cancelling and rebooking doesn’t work barring cancellation/major schedule change etc.
Oh, I understood.
SCL to LHR would work as well, i just asked as it’s the first time I had to do a change like this and even the agent wasn’t very confident on her answer.
Lesson for the future.
