Hello 🙂
I made a post a week back so as my QR flight with qsuite has been changed to japan airlines, I was just wondering your guys and girls opinions on both products.
LHR – DOH QR
DOH – HND JAL
Also I’m not sure how to check whether or not a JAL flight is apex suite or reverse herringbone, any clarification regarding this?
You can check in QR MMB, just click on more details, but seriously JAL soft product is miles better than QR and the service as well. Depending on when the flight is you might be getting new A350 JAL.
I’m not a big fan of QSuite as a hard product, but most people here are. It’s okay, but not the best out there. I don’t like the small cubby hole and also feel too claustrophobic when suite doors are closed. If you’re travelling with someone else, then it’s a bit better as you can then select middle seats which are more spacious with partitions lowered.
I flew my first two longhaul sectors on JAL this summer if we count 6.5h longhaul: LHT-HNDso-BKK. Both were in J on a 4-class 777-300ER with SkySuite. I was blown away, my best flight in years including all my fligvfs on QR. And I say that as a person normally susceptibility to eye-rolling when others overplay small differences in products and services between carriers. However, JAL noriceably stood out; the key factors for me being food and service. I highly recommend you try the Japanese menu, this was tbe best food I had eaten on a plane matched only by LH First. Ot may just be my imaginations the number if cabin crew seemed higher than on other airlines and their service was a delight, attentive but not overbearing, genuine cheerful and motivated, not the phoney pleasant overbearing service of some carriers. The cabins and lavatories were spotless and maintained throughout the flights. SkySuite remains very solid despite an upgrade coming soon. At least on JAL you know you will get this but you cannot be sure if getting Qsuite in QR even exLHR because they have too many aircraft and seats and they frequently swap equipment. On my two QR sectors this month my plane was changed three times on one sector and twice on the other although I was happy because I ended up with an A350 plus A380. JAL SkySuite is superior to the Super Diamond seat that remains themainstay of QR fleet. Personally I prefer tt to Qsuite as I find the latter a little gloomy for my liming. .y recent experience of in flight dining on QR has ranged from diabolical to good. On my last flight food was good but soup was missing on one sectir, and yoghurt, cereal and fruit on the next. IFE, however, is far superior on QR than on JAL. My advice to you would be pay the change fee if you can get LHR-H D direct on JAL (or even BA) or one stop via HEL instead of DOH. Uless meta knows something I doubt we will see JAL new A350s in DOH for a long time.
