Paying balance with direct debit

I never done this so asking for a friend.
If u set up a direct debit does amex take the full balance or statment balance

When you set it up you choose between full balance, minimum payment or a fixed percentage of the full balance.

It goes without saying that if you’re wanting to pay anything other than the full balance then you should be looking for a low APR card instead although this totally isn’t financial advice.

My financial advice is buy low, sell high.
