Pending Avios during BAPP cancellation

While closing the BAPP card, what happens to the Avios earned but not yet transferred to your BAEC account?
Amex CC mentioned they’ll be forfeited, but I’m surprised that’s the case. Is there a workaround?

Thats correct. The only way to save your Avios is to wait until they transfer to your BAEC and then cancel the BAPP card. It costs you 1/12 of the annual fee to keep the card until the statement rolls over. If you have more than 1250 Avios to be transferred then it is worth waiting another month .
